P11-Our Lady Undercroft, Canterbury

This type of badge is most often associated with the shrine of Our Lady Undercroft, a secondary Canterbury cult. They were designed to be used with a pewter ‘S’ link, as a suspender for the various pendants that were produced at the time. The badge is supplied with the leaf pendant as shown.

Original found in Salisbury.

First half 15th century.

15x49mm A circular beaded frame within which is a fleur-de-lys.
